About Clarke’ Lunara (she/her)

Hi there!

My name is Clarke’ Lunara and I am a birth doula (or birth keeper - I’ll touch on this role and terminology more in a future blog post), postpartum doula, childbirth and newborn educator, and community herbalist. I have been doing this work for the last 8 years.

I live in the hills of Virginia with my grounding husband, Jordan, and our son-shine, River. We can often be found seeking local adventures, splashing in a creek, or planning our next camping trip or hike together.

My background is in Biochemistry and Chemistry and while working on my research at university, I decided to focus on how various birthing methods and the experience of the mother, has HUGE impacts on the little life passing through. Stressors, nutrition, epigenetics, birthing choices, and more all influence this new person’s immune and nervous system, gene expression, entire constitution, and adjustments to the world. “Why don’t more people know about this?!” I found myself wondering. And so I made the choice to apply that research oriented, scientific groundwork to evidence-based birth and postpartum support for families. It has brought me the most lovely opportunities and I couldn’t be happier to be here with you!

I focus on balancing research, reality and real-life scenarios, with defaulting to YOU as the professional and expert on your own body. Your intuition, values, and beliefs are honored, heard, and respected here. I pride myself in the fact that I avoid inserting my own visions, plans, or experiences into your processing, decision-making, and gut feelings (unless you ask otherwise).

Whether you’re trying to conceive, actively pregnant, newly postpartum, or years past the postpartum experience, let’s walk through this together. We are not meant to do it alone.

Testimonials

“Clarke’ was an essential individual during my pregnancy and postpartum care. She was at my side during a plethora of life changes and was able to support me through both a miscarriage as well as a successful pregnancy, gave eco-savvy ideas and advice for baby essentials, gave book/podcast/information/nutritional recommendations, and - most importantly - provided mental and emotional healing after an unexpected c-section. She continuously checkin in on us after birth, making sure not only that my baby and I were healthy, but that I was thriving mentally as well. Clarke’ helped me process all of the craziness in my life after I had my C-Section, and because of her, I was able to pull together the strength I needed to take care of my newborn baby girl. Clarke’ focuses her energy, care, love and support entirely on you to make sure you have a positive pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum experience. Thank you, Clarke’, for being such an important part of mine, my husband’s, and my daughter’s life!” - Alexis (First Time Mom)
